Laramie Project Reflection

How did you feel when reading The Laramie Project?
Before reading The Laramie Project I thought it was another “lame” book that was in the school curriculum; although after I read the book, I was intrigued by how the author put the story together. It made me want to read more and more.  It is a very controversial book that has different perspectives whether the homosexual’s life style is acceptable or not. Some characters in the book believe that he brought it on to himself; while on the other hand others say that they shouldn’t have killed Matthew Shepard. In the following paragraph I will state how I feel.
I believe that if Matthew Shepard didn’t go up to Henderson and Mckinney then he wouldn’t be dead. Sure he was drunk but there were ways that he could have prevented the outcome, such as not going to the bar in the first place. There is no doubt that Matthew’s death was a hate crime. I don’t think that you should go around and telling random people that you’re gay, because not everyone supports homosexuality. Mckinney says that “had this been a heterosexual these two boys decided to take out and rob, this never would have made the national news.''
In conclusion the play was pretty good. It provided  knowledge of how the characters felt in the book. I feel that it was a crime that could have been avoided. In the end the parents gave life sentences to Henderson and Mckinney.
